She laughed and said
"It might just be the next best thing to love"
Hope is gone, and she confessed
That when you lay your dream to rest
You can get what's second best
But it's hard to get enough
Eye of the Hurricane -David Wilcox
After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, And you learn that love doesnt mean leaning and company doesnt mean security, And you begin to learn that kisses arent contracts and presents arent promises, And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrows ground is too uncertain for plans. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So plant your garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really are strong, And you really do have worth

Who do you turn to when the only person
in the world that can stop you from crying,
is exactly the one making you cry?
--or is it a question?
I don't know who said this I just felt like it was something I needed to read.
"Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of withering, of tarnishing."
Later on that same day...Actually I guess Anais Nin said this. Figures...
Sometimes it feels like nothing is ever going to be okay. But, it always is. Eventually. Life is so cyclical. The older I get the more I understand that.
Just sort of a random thought I was having at work today...
So a friend of mine sent me this link over the weekend. Star Trek:New Voyages. My favorite part of all of this though is the FAQ.
Q. Why Kirk, Spock and McCoy? Why not new characters set in the same timeline?
A. Though we touch on this in others questions in the F.A.Q., we thought a full explanation was in order. Star Trek: New Voyages' producers/crew feel that Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest should be treated as "classic" characters like Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman, Gandalf from Lord of the Rings or even Hamlet, Othello or Romeo. Many actors have and can play the roles, each offering a different interpretation of said character. Though the character is the same, the interpretation of the actor is what's in question. We feel that the crew of the Enterprise has more to teach us about life and each other than has been explored to date. We also feel the new actors can add to the legend in a believable and contemporary way. Yes, some may have a problem separating Shatner from Kirk - all we ask is that you give it a try and see whether Kirk and the crew still have something to say to you.
The really sad part is that I would love to be in this...
