Jim Aparo dies at 72

A Death In The Family

Jim Aparo was a massive influence on me artistically. I learned a lot of what I know about drawing comics from his work. His run on The Brave and The Bold was unprecedented. A joy of my childhood.

The Aparo family has asked that in lieu of Flowers or gifts, anyone wishing to honor Jim's legacy make a contribution to any worthy charity, as Jim believed that all charities were worth donating to.

For those wishing to send along their condolences and best wishes to the family, a P.O. Box has been set up for the family to receive cards. The address is:
THE APARO FAMILY
P.O. BOX 28

Firewood ?

No more lugging this big ol' SOB around the country?

Mary Belle made a call to an architectural antique dealer I know and they gave her $1300 for this flat file/drafting table I've been lugging around the country for the past fifteen years.

Girl’s got some Mary Jo in her huh? Very resourceful. I've been so broke this year that I couldn't help her, as much I've wanted to. So even though she had to put some elbow grease into getting rid of our crap in CA -I feel we helped a little.

A Light Night of Comedy

You weren't waiting for somebody when I came in were you?

Ok, so I just spent my summer producing, directing, marketing, babysitting and acting in "A Light Night of Comedy". We did 4 short pieces by David Ives, Anton Chekhov, Neil Simon and Sam Shepard. We opened the show tonight. All of my teachers were there, so no pressure or anything. We got alot of applause and praise at the end of the show, but hey, who knows what the actor crowd is really thinking. They are professional liars you know.

Anyway, Shawn and I did a 10 minute play by David Ives called "Sure Thing".
The premise is this: A man and a woman meet in a coffee shop for the first time,
and throughout the course of their flirtation, they each say something the other doesn't like. Each time this happens, a bell rings, and they have to back up in time and start over again, saying basically the same thing, but each time a little different, until they finally fall in love.
David Ives is one sadistic bastard for writing such a play. I think he hates actors. This was the hardest thing I ever had to memorize. And it was only 10 minutes.

Bombings in London

This is the size font we get when Christian white people die. And we wonder why the rest of the world hates us. Why don’t we ever see:
