This is a really funny show. I've spent a good deal of time on Oak Street beach (the beach across the street from Laguna Surf and Sport -which is a great surf shop by the way) -and it's exactly like this show. Okay, they do leave out the rampant prejudice of Laguna (it's lily white there), the locals deep hatred of tourists, and of course (in my experience) the right wing hatred of the local religious right extremists. Oh -and they seem to be hiding the large gay community that also calls Laguna home. It's sad really. I suppose the TV version will become the accepted norm and Laguna will become more expensive, more trendy and completely lose what little bit is left of it's old California beach town vibe. Sad for surfers but good for business I suppose.
Hopefully San Clemente will stay off the radar a while longer.
