Over the weekend

My grandfather died on last week. He was 87. My brother went to the funeral -I stayed here and worked. I pretty much work more than anything else lately. I haven’t seen that side of the family for 21 years. I didn’t really think about that until I heard that he had died.

Mary and I actually spent time alone together for the first time since moving here this weekend. The girls were visiting and Logan and Mary Belle went to the pier. The silence was deafening (but fun).

Lord of The Rings swept the Oscars last night. Maybe there’s something wrong with me but I absolutely despised that series. I was dragged to the first one by Mark, Tamara and Mike and literally spent most of the movie walking around the lobby looking at upcoming movie posters. Wishing I was anywhere else.

Mostly I just don’t like that sword and sorcery crap. Given my extreme geekiness concerning most thing sci-fi, horror and comics, etc… (and anything to do with William Shatner). One would assume that I would be all over those little Hobbit bastards. So not the case with me. I mean it’s not just that I don’t like it. It seems to annoy me on a really deep level. Anyway I’m glad it’s over. I was happy to see the Mystic River got some action.

The Passion of the Christ came back as a box office lion this weekend with an astounding $117,538,00 gross.

The grocery store strike finally ended. I have to admit I was completely wrong to have crossed the line back in October. Free groceries or not. Those people went through a long winter standing out there every day and stood up for themselves. I appreciate that .
