Reason # 498 for leaving Las Vegas

I've found Las Vegas to be very dispiriting. I've spent a little over two years here and for the most part it's been pretty horrible. About a week after we moved here we were visiting a friend that was passing through (on his way to California) down on the Strip. We took a cab to wherever we were (The Rio's seafood buffet I think?) going and the cabbie told us that a lot of people move here and very few stay. He said; generally the people that stay in Las Vegas do it after two years. Two years is the decider evidently. While I don't tend to put a lot of stock in cabbie philosophy as a rule- he did seem to know of what he spoke. Well we've done our two years and are getting the hell out here. Or getting out of hell- however you want look at it.

Apparently the NV powers that be are cutting 111 million dollars out of the school budget next year. Yet another reason to move somewhere that has a state tax and some sort opportunity for children besides the service industry, Black Jack dealer, or cocktail waitress. Oh and the ever popular legal prostitute.
