Oscar audio

I tried watching the Oscars last night. You know, 75th anniversary and all. Unfortunately I didn’t see most of the contenders this year so it really didn’t hold my interest very long.

I did happen to catch Michael Moore accepting his Oscar for Bowling for Columbine. Here is what I found fascinating. As we watched last night I was listening to the audience reaction. Mostly the elite of Hollywood were either clapping or cheering. In the background you could hear a few boo’s and hisses.

Being that I’m constantly working with audio in my animation job my ears have become very attuned to audio-specifically to audio manipulations. This morning I was watching CNN Headline News. They showed the same shot as the live Oscar telecast we watched last night but the audio had been altered and you could hear mostly booing. I find that a little disconcerting.
